Minuscule Moments of ART

Some people call me the magpie lady, as I have sketched many magpies in my time. In my new work Garden Symphony I have added all the other little visitors that are in my garden using collage.

Be present in Nature

Do you notice the Bird Song every morning like I do? I will share my latest work with you. Inspired by the birds.

My interests are mainly in Australian birds and wildlife. The mediums of choice is pen and ink to create my signature art. These detailed pieces take many hours. Lately I have been adding more insects to my pieces and enjoy using collage to get some extra layers, into my work.

Do you love birds?

My passion for sketching birds has opened up new and exciting opportunities, I offer prints, cards and originals in the beautiful space in Merimbula. The Essence is a store with several small businesses under the one roof. Be sure to check it out when you visit Merimbula.

I am Passionate about Birds Especially The Gang-gang cockatoo

Recently I was part of an online workshop to educate myself on the  Gang Gang Cockatoo (Callocephalon fimbriatum Cacatuidae).

Sadly, they are on the threatened species list since the black summer bush fires. But research has shown these birds have been on the decline for some years now.

I cpmpleted a series of work on this wonderful species. But have sold most of them. I will have updates in my monthly newsletter when I sketch some new ones as they have captured my heart and inspire me to sketch them.

We can all do  small things in our gardens to help these birds. If you live in the Gang-gangs known territory you can help in many different ways.

-Leave clean water out for all birds.

-Protect known nesting tree hollows.

-Educate yourself on the food they like to eat and plant some of the species native to your area in your garden.

-If you see a gang-gang did you know you can do an incident report via https://birdata.birdlife.org.au download the app and every time you see a gang-gang, report it. Every piece of  information can help us understand what they need to thrive. There is so much not known about this species.

I have a playful side too and often think about birds with crowns under a starry sky.
