Colour pencil work on Black Fabriano paper

Tea for Two

Pencil/metallic acrylics on Fabriano paper. Largest work thus far. Tea for two evolved after I thought about why we love birds so much. Why we want to make friends with them? Even though we know they are better off without us interfering. I use to feed all the birds after the fires but now we have a thriving habitat garden, we only make sure we have water for the birds. The cockatoos are always in the gums out the back of the garden. You can usually hear them before you can see them. The teapot series was my escape from the detailed pen work that I create. Who doesn’t love a Tim-tam?

Harmony in Bloom II

Pencil and gold acryllics

Available on Bluethumb

Harmony in Bloom II was inspired by the annual visits of a family of magpies to our garden. Each year, I eagerly watch as the new generation of young magpies explores the garden, learning from their parents and gradually finding their place in the world. Their intelligence, curiosity, and strong family bonds have always fascinated me.

The magnolias featured in this piece are also drawn from our garden, where their spectacular blooms signal the arrival of spring. I wanted to capture the sense of harmony between these beautiful native birds and the flourishing garden they call home. The gold crown adds a symbolic touch, celebrating the magpie's regal presence and the special place it holds in the Australian landscape.
