Garden Symphony celebrates the beauty and complexity of an Australian garden alive with birds, insects, and native foliage. Inspired by the resident magpie that has made our garden his home, this intricate piece invites the viewer to pause, observe, and reconnect with the rhythms of nature.
Created using my signature pen-and-ink technique, the piece layers detailed studies of leaves, insects, and wildlife into a richly textured collage. The work marked an exciting evolution in my artistic practice, expanding the possibilities of combining fine pen work with natural forms to create a deeper sense of place and story.
Selected as a finalist in The Basil Sellers Art Prize 2024, Garden Symphony reflects both my passion for Australia's natural world and my commitment to capturing the beauty of nature in our own back yards

The day begins with a familiar sound—the unmistakable calls of two cheeky cockatoos announcing their presence long before the world has fully awakened. At the Break of Light captures that energetic morning encounter, celebrating the personality, intelligence, and charisma that make these birds such beloved members of Australia's wildlife.
Created in pen and ink, this artwork is rich with intricate detail and layered collage elements. Hand-drawn leaves, insects, and botanical forms are woven throughout the composition, creating a visual tapestry that reflects the interconnected beauty of the natural world. The longer you spend with the piece, the more hidden details emerge, inviting closer observation and discovery.
Glimmer
This pen and gold acrylic illustration is inspired by a juvenile butcher bird that regularly visits my garden, often appearing curious, alert, and full of character as it explores its surroundings.
Rather than capturing the bird in isolation, this work reflects the living environment it belongs to. Almost taking it to a sacred space with Intricate collage elements of butterflies, leaves, and natural textures are woven throughout the composition, creating a layered narrative of movement and connection within the garden ecosystem.
